Hoot, Hoot

It's Friday evening, and we are all playing soccer in the commons area behind our town-home apartment.  As Matt kicks the ball to Isaac I notice something fling up... or fling down? I go and take a peak. Laying on the ground appears to be some kind of wet, gray terd. Which fell from the sky? I look up into the tree, and sure enough something is up there, but what exactly? The lighting is dim, so I sort of make out a gray feather mass. Then I notice the eyes. Two great big eye! Holy smokes, an owl!

The little guy just sat and watched us forever. Didn't fly away, didn't move down his perch, just sat and looked and looked and looked. He, or she, was so cute! I was hoping the turd looking thing was an owl pellet (the regurgitated parts of the animal eaten), but there weren't any bones/skeletons in it. Just gray mush... So I still don't know what it is. Is owl poop gray?

Well anyway, me and Isaac were in awe.

Owls hold a special place in my heart. My father's mother's favorite bird/animal was the owl. She passed away in 1995, and me and sisters don't remember much of her. As a result anything we can associate with Barbara we take special interest in. Isaac has noticed my affinity for the owl and has dubbed it my favorite bird.

You know what Isaac Boy? I think you're right.
