November's BAMA Trip

Good night!  What happened to November?!  Pretty much slipped through my fingers.

Here's a good highlight:  We went to Bama for a four day weekend!

We stopped by Auburn first, stayed with my sister, got a sweet hair cut, cuddled with a beautiful baby girl, boys went fishing with Matt and Uncle Dave, and then we headed to B'ham to see my parents.  With Luke in tow, too!

In B'ham, we went fishing.  Like, a lot.  And Matt and Isaac both caught a large mouth bass for the first time!  They were both soooo excited!   Good for them, man.  Matt and the boys have really gotten into fishing.  Which is great.  The more they want to be outdoors, the better.  But one thing Matt's learning is how to fish different fish than the ones he fished up north.  It's different.  So getting a bass was a big deal for the both of them!

Also, family time.  Love it.  My parents' home is really peaceful!

Family Weekend… Like a Month Ago

My word.   Every weekend has been so packed.  The last time we had just a chill "family weekend" was like a month ago.  But we happened to pack that weekend, too, but this time with family fun… so that's okay.

We first enjoyed a great little fishing trip.
Our town sponsors a kids catfish fishing derby twice a year.  The boys were so excited!  Finally an opportunity to catch some fish.

So we showed up, picked a spot, and started casting some lines.  After some quick lines, I had to tell Matt to slow down.  Catfish, you see, are not trout or salmon.  They like to sit at the bottom and eat really smelly things.  Just cast a line with a hotdog chunk, and let it sit.  Viola!  Catfish!
Matt and the boys caught two fish.  We weren't able to keep them because we didn't think that far in advance.  (Like a cooler could have held our caught fish, you know?)

Also, each boy got a medal of achievement.  Pretty amazing, if you ask them.

Then after lunch we headed to a beach.
This was Matt's first time going to the beach in almost two years.  He was really excited!  And the boys were too!

Titus basically lasted 5 minutes in the water, then shivered for the next two hours.  Me and T explored a lot of the beach, then he had a hay day splashing in a muddy tidal canal.  (Didn't get pictures, but he was muddy from head to toe.)

Matt, Isaac, and Eli loved the water, and really loved digging and building in the tidal pools.

We finished the weekend with a really chill and family centered Sunday.
At one point Matt had get onto the boys, which created LOTS of tears.  But Matt held them all close with "an increase of love," as he likes to say.
