Our Easter Weekend

We traveled to Bama last weekend to celebrate Easter, Eli's last birthday party of 2014
(seriously, he had like 4 things--between his "friends party" at the park, cupcakes with his baseball team, cupcakes for his primary class, and his final party at Grammie and Gramps' home), and to finally see my parents' BRAND NEW BUILT HOME!

We arrived in Bama on Friday, saw the amazing new home, and then me and Matt scooted out for our 9th anniversary celebration.  Dinner, movie, and a over night stay in B'ham.  Ooh la la!
The boys were able to have like 2 Easter hunts: 1) with the local neighborhood kids, and 2) at my parents' church for all the kids.

Matt and I started baking and decorating the cake around noon, and had the finished product and the party set up around 3pm.
Eli REALLY wanted an Iron-Man themed cake, with Iron-Man themed toys, and really wanted they boys' friend Will to be present, and really wanted to open presents before eating cake.

I do believe we were able to make that all happen.

I baked, and frosted the blue, then Matt took over.
He did a pretty decent job considering he's not a professional!  I was a little surprised by the red dots everywhere, but realized that it just adds to the celebration.

And the party commenced with present opening, then cake eating.
Fun stuff, I tell ya.

That night we dyed eggs.  And guess what?!  IronMan came.  It was AH-mazing.
(Took the boys half a second to get that it was Matt.  Still fun, nonetheless.)

Easter morning came, and the Bunny(s) was able to hide the eggs before the boys woke up at 6:20.  Miracles.

Baskets were found with lots of goodies, then emptied for an egg hunt.  All enjoyed finding the eggs, however Titus refused to pick up a real egg.  He left those for the brothers.   Titus also refused to keep any of the candy wrapped in pink, and he gave all that to Grammie.

Me, Matt, Titus, Isaac, and Gramps made it to church but Grammie and Eli stayed home.  Eli had really bad seasonal allergies during the Bama trip and was coughing so bad he was even throwing-up.  Poor thing.

After church there was a nice big spread of food, thanks to Grammie's efforts.  And we all enjoyed each other's company.  Even took a trip to a field for baseball practice and lots of play.
(We left Bama on Monday (Isaac, Eli, and Matt had a 4 day weekend).)

Dads are the Best. Seriously.

Listen, I know as a mom I offer a lot.  I make sure everyone is bathed, everyone has clean clothes, everyone eats at least 2 veggies a day.

But then there is Matt, the Dad, who is in a word:  The Bomb!
Matt sees through the daily "must dos" and inserts the "can dos".  Matt sees a lot of teachable moments that I just do not.

……

Matt spends hours working on Isaac's new leather glove to get it ready for baseball season.
"Shouldn't Isaac do that?" I ask.
"My dad did this for me, so I'll do for Isaac," says Matt, "and you'll do it for your kids, won't you Isaac?"
Isaac nods enthusiastically.

……

We are redoing all the beds and dressers for the boys' room.
I'd try and do it all by myself.  But Matt willingly hands the boys tools, gives them tasks, and embraces their willingness to help.

OKAY!  SO.  The boys' room is SO close to being done.  I cannot wait to show you guys.
We've been dealing with a crazy mess of an upstairs for almost a month.  But everything is coming together.  YAY!

But Matt hasn't minded too much.  Cause that means he could shop of tools, haha

Spring Break Ocean Visit + My "Guest Post"

Spring Break, baby!
I wish I could say my boys were sleeping in and getting plenty of rest--but the opposite is happening.  7am wake ups with 9pm bedtimes and lots of play in between.

Yesterday we took our first beach trip of the year and checked out an island near us called Jykell.  The parking and restrooms and showers were awesome, and the beach was nice and calm and not over crowded.

The boys LOVED it.  Seriously LOVED.  Wave jumping, tidal pool playing, friends making kind of beach trip.

Also, I was asked by my dear friend Paige to write a guest post on her blog about motherhood and my experience of becoming a mommy for a third time.

Things We Love While Driving

We're on our way back to coastal GA.
We had such a lovely time in Bama this Easter weekend.  Food, parties, family time, Easter celebrations.

And the road trip part of the travel is pretty fun, too.

Matt and I talk about the boys--Titus really does have a southern accent.
Matt and I talk about history--the Korean War is crazy.
Matt and I talk about our future--we have no idea what's going on.

We listen to lots of music of many different types of genre.  Pop, jazz, country rock, big band, show tunes.

The boys play electronics, the boys play with toys, the boys play with other.

I like road trips.  I hope we can take many more this summer.  I have plans... Big. Plans.
