His 3rd Birthday

Eli's 3rd birthday was full of fun.

He chose the place to eat, and of course it was Cafe Rio!  He LOVES Cafe Rio.  This cannot be understated.  Cafe Rio was a part of his birthday present, and it was perfect.

That evening we had chocolate cupcakes, with extra chocolate chips in the batter (Isaac's idea), and presents opening with my parents on Skype (Matt's parents were out of town.)  The previous day I took Isaac and Titus to Goodwill to find some presents for Eli.  5 bucks worth of merchandise made one 3 year old so happy.  Favorite gifts included puzzles (that boy loves puzzles), a marshmallow gun, and a great Buzz Lightyear costume (from Grammie and Gramps).  All wrapped in Christmas paper.  Fun!

Titus' Gift to Eli

A black eye.

On the morning of Eli's third birthday--a Friday the 13th--he and Titus bonk heads.
Titus' forehead gave Eli a black eye.  How thoughtful.

Easter in an Egg Shell

Easter is my fav holiday.  I love the message of Christ's sacrifice, hope, and love.  It also helps it is during Spring and everything is so new and lovely (I'm a sucker for Spring).
I didn't feel as spiritually fed this year as in years past.  Totally my fault.  Been worrying to much about our future plans, and not really thinking about the reason for the season.  Lesson learned.

To sum up the events of this Easter: pretty normal.  Egg hunt in the morning with the our little family, then an egg hunt with Matt's big fam in Boise in the afternoon/evening.  Good food, good chocolate, good company.

Side note: I made the Easter bags.  Didn't know where any baskets were (I probably threw them all away), I had material, and I decided to make them.  They look way more girly than I had hoped, and I do believe that one of my sons will go on to study "gender studies" because of these bags.  His doctoral thesis will be based around his experiences with this Easter bag.  You're welcome, sons.

Also, Isaac did cry while hunting eggs in the morning.  He wanted to stay in and look at his Star Wars sticker book, but he had fun later that day with his cousins.
