Isaac came home Monday, saying he came up with an awesome idea: leprechaun trap that falls from the ceiling, and it's like a jail. Due Thursday. Thanks Teacher.
I actually wasn't too overwhelmed with the idea, it was just that Matt would have loved to help out with this. I mean, he is Mr. Construction Management, and he loves to tinker. Would have been fun to see he and Isaac work together.
But since I've been working with and playing with power tools and wood since I was in fourth grade, I had some what of an idea of what I needed to do. I actually didn't buy any wood, we had all these random scrape pieces that I was able to fix together. It's a little rickety, and probably won't last forever, but that's okay.
BEHOLD, the Leprechaun Trap Guillotine Jail!
But before it got this awesome, there were a few first steps:
He's like, wow, this is great Mom. But how will it go down by it's self? Er... I'll have to get back to you on that, Bud.

It's a little imposing, but we glamed it up a bit. Isaac made all the decorating decisions, making it fabulous!

Isaac made everything very symmetrical, my little engineer :)
Okay, so the trap was a big success! I don't know all fact from fiction which Isaac tells me, but I think his trap came the closest to capturing the leprechaun. (The leprechaun came into their classroom while at PE, making a mess, leaving his glittery feet all round... And yeah, apparently we believe in leprechauns now... Great. Thanks Teacher!)
I did see Isaac's teacher after school, and she said it was very awesome, and that teachers from all around came to look at. EGO BOOST!
Isaac had a wonderful time with this trap, and I'm glad we were able to put this together... Even if I was covered in wood glue for two days. Not sure what I'm going to do if we have to do another trap next year. Luckily Matt will be home for that one, and the pressure will be on him! I was thinking though, since Isaac creates so many cool things with LEGOs, if we know in advance, that Isaac could build his own trap from LEGOs. Good idea.
