An "Afganistan Matt" Update

Matt's really, really, really, really safe.  Matt's really, really, really, really busy.  

Every day is a Monday for him, so he says.  12 to 16 hour days, 7 days a week, of no let up with things that must be accomplished--but he knew this going into his branch [job] choice.  He completely forgot it was Easter Sunday, even after the chaplain announced it! 

His moral is good, though.  Comparing the Iraq deployment to this Afghanistan, well there is no comparison!  

Afghanistan for Matt [Human Resource Officer]: food, safety, a job that has meaning = good things.  

Iraq for Matt [Infantry Lower Enlisted-man]: no food, no safety, a job that was frustrating and disheartening = 4 years of moderate PTSD.

Matt's loves all the mountains (maybe a little scary since bad guys up there).
But he very much enjoys the scenery.

He's probably a lot tougher than what I give him credit for ;) 

It's been about a month since he left, and everyone is doing really well.  For some reason this doesn't seem too hard.  Maybe we're just used to being apart, but I really think it's just that Matt and I feel like we (as in our family) is in a really good and secure place right now.  We have money to meet all our needs, plus some to pay off debt and invest in retirement.  All the boys are sleeping through the night, and their relationships with each other are starting to mature making the continuous wrestle and play easier to manage.  We haven't been pregnant for 3 years, which I think is a big plus for our marriage--it's been allowing both of our nerves to settle and be calm.
