About the "Weak Things"

I really like Sunday School, and I especially enjoy Gospel Doctrine and learning from the scriptures.  Yesterday we went over Ether, one of the last books in The Book of Mormon, and briefly talked about this verse:

Ether 12:27: "And if men come unto me I will show unto them theiraweakness. I bgive unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak things become strong unto them."

Yes, I've decided this is why I lose everything: it's my weakness.

--Wednesday it was my wallet--so I biked everywhere.  (I found it stuck between my bed and night stand.)
--Thursday it was the beloved McMissile, the "Cars 2" character.  (I found it in Isaac's back-pack the next morning.)
--And sometime during the week I lost my wedding ring.  AHHH!  For 2 days I was ring-less.  (I found it in my make-up bag.)

I go to the Lord often, with pleading prayers to help me--PLEASE HELP ME--get my life in order.  I humble myself about everyday with a prayer...

(What's so frusting is that I really, really, really try to stay in order.  It also doesn't help that I'm married to the most organized, on top of everything thing, person alive.  Sorry that I stress you out so much, Matt!)

... It was just nice to be reminded that maybe this forgetfulness really is a blessing in disguise.  I always have a prayer in my heart to help me--PLEASE HELP ME--get through the day in one piece, and you know, not lose a kid along the way.

And it's always great to see small miracles.
Like this one:  drove all around town, came out of the grocery store, and saw a beloved toy secure and un-lost in the most unsecured location.

Love you Shannon. I think you are so strong, and genuine, and kind and beautiful. So happy for you that Matt is home, and so impressed that you held everything together so well for so often. I miss you over here in the "grungy" and "serious" Northwest.

We studied that same lesson this past Sunday, and I had kind of a similar thought. Just because we give that weakness over to the Savior doesn't mean it will become our strength. Or even that it SHOULD be our strength.

My example...I'll never be a basketball/baseball (or any kind of sport probably) kind of person. It's just NOT my strength. And being born into a SPORT family, this was sometimes tough for me as a kid.

When I learned to turn that over to Him, and be OK with it, it didn't mean that suddenly I became a sports star/fan. Suddenly my eyes had room to see some other talents that I have, that because I became aware of them, I have been able to develop them, and become more than I would have been otherwise. I have learned that I have to be humble enought to let HIM guide me. He can help me to become strong where I need to be strong.
